High-level overview of Journey through AUC

  • Curriculum is broken down into 9.5 semesters
       Semesters 1-5 (years 1and 2) are spent mastering the Medical Sciences
      Completed at St. Maarten Campus
  • Once students pass the Medical Sciences curriculum they travel to the USA for testing
      Test is called USMLE Step 1. Students are required to pass the USMLE Step 1 before completing to clinical rotations
  • Semesters 6-9.5 (years 3 and 4) are the Clinical Sciences
      Completed at our affiliate teaching hospitals in USA or UK
      After the Clinical Sciences curriculum has been completed, students sit for the USMLE Step 2, which tests students on their clinical knowledge and clinical skills
      Once students pass the USMLE Step 2 and all clinical rotations are complete, students graduate and earn their MD degree
  •   If students wish to work in the USA, they would then enter the USA National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP) The MATCH℠
  • Admissions Requirements

    Bachelor’s Degree

  • Includes the following coursework
       1 –year biology with lab
      1-year general chemistry with lab
      1-year organic chemistry OR biochemistry with lab
      1-year physics with lab
  • MCAT Exam
       Looking for a score of 490 or higher to be competitive
       Grade Point Average
      AUC reviews all collective coursework grades (Cumulative GPA)
      AUC reviews all basic science coursework grades (Science GPA)
  • Letters of recommendation
       One academic letter – preferably science
       One professional letter
      Resume or CV- A chronological history of your educational, employment, and volunteer experience dating back to high school
      Personal statement
        Include medical career expectations
        Summary, in concise terms, no more than 750 words
        Describes skills and values the student believes a physician should possess o Summarize how experiences to date demonstrate these values
  • Transcripts
      Require official transcripts
      All transcripts from outside the USA must be evaluated by a credentialing service this is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services® (NACES).

  • Admissions Process

  • AUC enrolls three times a year
       January, May and September
  • Background check
      To protect the safety and well-being of patients and students
       Foreign students will need a standard Dutch Visa to arrive into St. Maarten o Must provide AUC with:
        Copy of birth certificate
        Scan color copy of passport photo ID page
        3 professional passport photos
        Police report from place of last residence
        Acceptance letter
        Location of Dominican Consulate where you will be requesting Visa
  • After Student Applies
      After AUC receives all required application materials, they are reviewed by their Admissions Advisor
      If applicant is a viable candidate, his/her application will be moved forward to interview stage
      Interviews are conducted face to face via Skype™ by RUSM Senor Graduate Admissions Officer
         Interviews do no guarantee admission
      After interview, typically receive a decision in 2 weeks

         $20,960 USD per semester / semesters 1-5
       Clinical Medical Sciences curriculum
         $23,450 USD per semester / semesters 6-9
         $11,725 USD for semester 9.5
